Learners plan for an original short 2 to 3 minute animation, or section of an animated production:

selection of form e.g. 2D, 3D, Cell animation / Animated or live action. TV/Film/Game cutscene The main form will be 3D animation with some live action. There will be various sections which will consist of a live action scene in a classroom and a section where the mothership lands on the earth which will be a using 3D effects on top of live action. As well as this there is going to be a section set in space which will consist of a ship being blown up and a armada of ships approaching the earth

b) selection of animation type e.g. line drawing, cell animation, hand drawn animation, rotoscoping, live action animation, stop motion (e.g. claymation), 2D / 3D animation (e.g. computer generated images), character animation The animation type will be fully 3D computer generated imagery, this will be done mainly in Maya with Photoshop and other After Effects being used for textures. We are going for a realistic look for the whole section. The ships will be lit realistically using a Arnold lighting in Maya with animated textures enhancing the style.

selection of genre/style e.g. comedy, horror, super hero, anime, manga, fantasy, adventure, sci-fi The Genre will be Sci-Fi, it will consist of a lot of the tropes with large complicated space ships and alien ships like nothing earth could make. There will be a scene where the aliens can be seen, while in a cockpit approaching earth. As well as this there will be the typical warp speed theme used and created in After Effects.

narrative and/or character development e.g. Storyline based on a situation or series of events, or storyline based on character The storyline starts off with a School kid noticing a noise in his head, he being part alien knows it is coming from far away. The Mothership then warps to earth with an armada behind her. You then see the School kid panic and running down the corridors in worry. The fleet now huge in size approaches earth, the orbital defenses around earth spring into action destroying an alien ship in the process the aliens retaliate by destroying the defenses that go up into flames. The student runs past the camera and the huge ship comes into view slowly descending from the sky.
